Chili

Chili is a small perennial shrub with woody stems that will grow to about 1 meter tall. It is native to the Central American region, where it has been used as one of the main seasoning ingredients in Mexican cuisine for centuries. It was then introduced to the rest of the world by Spanish and Portuguese explorers in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, chili is widely grown in many parts of the world as an important commercial tree.
