Longan has a sweet, succulent taste. The seeds and pods are inedible. In addition to being eaten fresh, longan is commonly used in Asian soups, snacks, desserts, sweet and sour foods, either fresh or dried, sometimes canned with syrup. Longan has a sweet taste, different from the slightly sour taste of lychee.
